Why should you hire a realtor?

Because buying or selling a home is such an important part of one’s life. You hire a plumber or an electrician or even an accountant… so I would hope that when selling or buying a home you would do the same. This is probably the largest purchase a person makes, you need a professional.

Top 10 reasons to Hire a Real Estate Agent

Despite the fact that houses sold as For Sale by Owner (FSBO) have continued to decline - and accounted for only 9% of home sales in 2012 (source: NAR) - there are still many out there who feel that agents do nothing but look on a listings site. They think that the ~5% commission can be saved if only they are willing to put in a little more effort, navigate some paperwork and negotiate the price like they did for their car.

How hard can it be?

The Age of Internet has empowered the consumer much more than the real estate professional who is vying for their business. Listings can be accessed with ease through aggregated platforms, while market statistics and neighborhood information can be researched online.

At the same time, real estate professionals have been taking their sweet time adapting to the advantages being offered to them by the online world.

The movie The Perfect Storm comes to mind…

After all, they witnessed the invincible travel agent become rendered obsolete by sites like Expedia and Orbitz. So you can understand why they are somewhat hesitant to jump on board any online tool available to them. This makes even more sense once you consider that the average Realtor is 57 years old (source: NAR), meaning they never grew up using the internet.

Do you know about short sales, foreclosures, disclosures, contracts, financing, inspections, lender required repairs, title policies, types of ownership, and so much more... Contact a Realtor to be your resource and guide through this crazy market!
